<img src="http://www.wendycandelaria.com/thumbnails/thumb_20120130144302_p1240100.jpg"><br/>
While waiting to make some final photographs for the book Artist Cook and Gardener, I did some garden exploring and found the Camellia in full bloom. A cloud suddenly shifted and one flower was bathed in a ray of sunlight. As I photographed the flower a bee landed and posed for me. I had been trying to capture the bees on the flowers for several minutes only to get their tail ends at most as they busily made their way to all of the out of reach flowers. Only when I abandoned the idea of getting a bee photo did one finally come to me. This was truly a gift.

Turkey Feather

I found this turkey feather while out on a hike. The iridescence caught my eye and I wanted to capture it in a photo. For this photo I used the light from the edge of a window to take advantage of the shadow in the background. I wanted the light colored edges to show.

Wild Strawberries are heavenly! Found these this morning in my secret foraging spot in the Santa Cruz Mountains. I don't know if they taste better because they are wild or because I have been jogging and I am starving. This years crop has been incredibly prolific. Now is the time to find them so keep your eyes peeled. They like a little shade.

Orange and Blossom

 <img src="http://www.wendycandelaria.com/thumbnails/thumb_20110506123732_p1160982crop.jpg"><br/>
I spent a few days in April and May picking oranges in my mother-in-laws backyard in Santa Clara. The fragrance of the orange blossom is heavenly. The dark green lushness of the leaves with the white flowers and orange fruit is a feast for the eyes. The warm air, fragrance and feel of being in the tree thick with fruit and leaves reminds me of subtropical climates like Ojai and Southern California. Love it!

This moth visited my window last night while I washed dishes. You can see the Christmas lights in the background. I made this shot through my window with the lens right up against the glass and the focus set on Macro.
